Ko Jamie Hakaraia ahau.

I started on this journey as a young kid driving my mother and kaumātua around Te Taitokerau, attending the different hapū and wider Ngāpuhi hui. I was privileged to have spent a lot of time over a 20-year period with our kaumātua Uncle Moka Puru, Aunty Mārara Te Tai, and Uncle Matu Clendon. Their teachings and guidance shaped much of who I am today, and I hold fast to their dreams and aspirations not just for Treaty Settlement but for our people Patukeha and Ngāti Kuta as well.

Since 2010, I have been asked by our hapū and kaumātua to do the following things:

  • Research support for WAI 1140 Patukeha Claim
  • Trustee to Motūkōkako Ahu Whenua Trust
  • Trustee to 3B2 Ahu Whenua Trust
  • Claimant for Ngāti Kuta and Patukeha under Takutai Moana Act 2011 (MACA)
  • Trustee to Te Whakaaetanga Trust
  • Treaty Settlement Negotiator for Patukeha
